  • Overview

    Kinney Group has an opening for an Engineering Manager for its ITOA business to manage a team of skilled engineers. The Engineering Manager will provide experienced and competent IT operations management, as well as project direction, by employing successful leadership principles in the management of a diverse, mid-sized team with elements including junior and intermediate level engineers.

     

    The Engineering Manager will require an understanding of leadership, the broader IT market, how to implement technical innovation as well as organizational management skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in IT Operations Analytics (Splunk) and will have worked in a consulting environment in excess of 3 years.

     

    The duties of an Engineering Manager include, but are not limited to:

    • Delivery of billable work as assigned
    • Hiring and staffing (recommendations, interviews, training, and coaching and developing of existing engineers)
    • Supporting problem solution resolution and decision-making
    • Conducting timely performance evaluations
    • Translating corporate goals into functional and individual goals
    • Monitoring engineers' projects and initiating action to improve results
    • Tracking and reporting progress results to management
    • Planning and goal-setting
    • Work with sales leadership to scope new opportunities and develop sales materials
    • Work with the PMO and Sales team to ensure execution of existing contracts
    • Enforce KGI Engineering quality and process standards

    • Leadership - ability to set priorities and motivate team members
    • Communication - effective communication in 1:1, team meetings, large group, email and social media
    • Collaboration - support cross-functional efforts and collaborative behavior
    • Critical Thinking - review priorities in light of larger goals. And translate into meaningful goals and objectives for team members
    • Project Management - understand and leverage formal projecct management practices to ensure timely completion and proper control of initiatives
    • Ability to work both autonomously and within a high functioning team environment
    • Highly motivated, enterprising, and a fast and proactive learner
    • Expertise with the installation, configuration and troubleshooting splunk, its core and premium applications in a variety of customer environments is a plus

    Education

    Bachelor's Degree at minimum in Computer Science, Computing Engineering, Information Systems or related technical field

     

    Qualifications

    5+ years of progressive management experience
