  • Overview

    As a staff accountant, you will serve as a member of the Accounting team responsible for delivering timely and accurate accounting services to vendors along with internal and external customers of Kinney Group. This role will be accountable for all accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections and general ledger activities. In addition, this role is critical in ensuring proper use of the general ledger and work closely with other Finance and Accounting team members to ensure accurate and timely delivery of internal and external financial statements.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Assumes ownership of all accounts payable related activities:Review all vendor invoices for appropriate documentation, coding and approval prior to payment
      • Process and maintain PO matching to invoices
      • Manage expense report reimbursement process
      • Administer credit cards and reconciliations/audits
      • Maintain proper documentation and standards for 1099 reporting
      • Complete 1099 process annually
      • Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
      • Manage the AP email inbox and respond to all vendor inquiries
      • Manage tax certifications associated with re-seller rules and regulations to avoid paying unnecessary taxes
      • Reconcile AP subledger to GL
    • Assumes ownership of all accounts receivable related activities including order processing, invoicing and collections of customer accounts.
      • Work with sales to create sales orders
      • Assure timely and accurate invoicing
      • Weekly reporting of invoicing totals/aging totals/cash receipts/invoice adjustments
      • Assure timely collection of monies and follow collection protocol on aged items
      • Maintains and updates collection status report for weekly review with manager
      • Manage AR email inbox and respond to all customer inquiries
      • Complete monthly hardware reconciliation to ensure both AP and AR are properly recorded
      • Reconcile AR sub-ledger to GL
    • Assumes ownership of various general ledger accounts.
      • Timely and accurate recording of journal entry transactions to respective accounts
      • Timely and accurate account reconciliations for assigned accounts
      • Research account variances
      • Assist with identifying actual vs. budget variances.

    Assist with other month end close duties as necessary

    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently
    • Sound technical skills including Microsoft Office suite
    • Ability to identify risk and flag concerns to management
    • Working knowledge of GAAP
    • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimal direction
    • Flexibility as some work weeks may require more than 40 hours
    • Ability to collaborate with internal and external customers at various levels within the organizations
    • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
    • Ability to meet deadlines

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting is preferred
    • 1-3 years of hands-on accounting experience
