  • Overview

    The primary mission for the Senior Automation Engineer is to work with the rest of the Next Generation Data Center team to continue development of new & existing customer solutions as well as enhance our internal development and CI/CD processes. We expect the Senior Automation Engineer to be proficient with the Puppet product stack as well as scripting languages such as Python & PowerShell.

     

    The Duties of the Senior Automation Engineer include but are not limited to:

    •  Team Membership
      • Collaborate effectively with the other Engineering team members.
      • Provide input to line management regarding personal development & training.
      • Function as a SME and provide guidance to other members of the team.
    • Technology Expertise
      • Understand the capabilities of the technologies for which they are a Subject Matter Expert
      • Understand the vendor’s roadmap and present new and interesting capabilities to Engineering leadership for inclusion in the product & service roadmap.
      • Broad systems and technology expertise including demonstrable expertise in troubleshooting complex issues.
    • Provide solution design and technical leadership for evolution of our support infrastructure.
    • Ensure that company development and process standards are implemented in all internal systems.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to present to internal, and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

    Desired Skills & Experience

    Required Skills:

    • Experience designing and developing automated configuration management solutions using a framework such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet or Jenkins (Puppet strongly preferred)
    • Experience working in highly virtualized data center environments with a strong preference toward VMware
    • Able to install, configure and manage Windows and Linux virtual machines
    • A solid understanding of the software development lifecycle
    • Windows and/or Linux server administration experience
    • Minimum of 5 year’s experience with scripting or programming (PowerShell, Bash, Java, Python)
    • Familiar with software integration using APIs, CLIs or web services
    • A strong desire to build creative and high-impact automation solutions
    • A desire and ability to work productively in a highly collaborative team environment
    • Minimum 8 year’s experience in technology, with progressive experience as an engineer.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Experience with VMware’s vRealize Orchestrator / vRealize Automation suite (vRA/vRO)
    • Prior experience configuring Jenkins for building automated workflows
    • Prior experience working in Agile development environments. Scrum experience preferred
    • Some knowledge of, or experience working with the NIST 800-53 Cybersecurity framework
    • Prior experience working in regulated environments, DoD Experience a plus
    • Previous experience with a Git version control system such as GitHub or BitBucket
